Coating Hardness Testing Ensures Product Quality

Here at UDT, we spend a massive amount of time on research and development to ensure that our manufactured product, EPIC High-Performance Floor Finish is the best performing product it can be. One of the tests routinely performed is a coating hardness test. The hardness development of a coating determines many of its key attributes such as its scratch and abrasion resistance, its ability to resist dirt pick-up, and its weather resistance. Also, the test measures gloss retention over the lifetime of the applied film (finish).

By utilizing the BYK-Gardner Pendulum Hardness Tester, we can verify that EPIC meets or exceeds our product standards and that it satisfies our customers’ expectations with every batch we produce. This highly sensitive test, the König Hardness Test, allows us to detect small differences in raw materials, giving us the ability to optimize product performance. Floor protectors reduce damage and wear caused by furniture. So what can you do to help ensure flooring stays looking like new?

Before you refinish floors with EPIC High-Performance Floor Finish, it's a good idea to inspect the old finish for areas of excessive abuse by causes other than foot traffic. For example, garbage bins, furniture, and machines can reek havoc on coated surfaces.

One of the easiest ways to reduce the incidence of floor scratches is to protect the legs, casters, and sliders of expensive equipment and furniture. Self-adhesive felt pads, slip-on style protectors, and wrap-around protectors (perfect for sled-style chairs and furniture) are just a few of the unique solutions sold by Ultra Durable Technologies.
